How to Pick the Right Ergonomic Chair

With a variety of ergonomic chairs out there, how do you pick the right one? Here are tips on finding which chair if best for you.

Seat Height should be easily adjustable. Ergonomic chairs need to be able to accommodate the variety of heights of users. You should be able to sit in your chair with your feet flat on the ground, and thighs and arms in parallel with the desk. Usually chairs are between 16 to 21 inches off the ground

Seat Width and Depth should be of right to size to be able to comfortably support anyone. The width needs to be between 17- 20 inches and leave enough comfortable space. The depth needs to allow 2 to 4 inches between the back of your knees and your chair. The seat also needs to be adjustable to be able to tilt forward or backwards, depending on the user.

There needs to be Lumbar Support! Your lower back, or lumbar, is the most important! It holds most your upper body weight while sitting so therefore it needs major support. A good chair will have a lumbar adjustment to support the inward curve of the spine.

Backrest should follow the natural curve of the spine. As said before, the curve of the spine needs to be supported. The backrest should be adjustable so users can adjust to their spine curve. Also, it should have a width anywhere from 12 to 19 inches.

Seat Material needs to be a material comfortable enough to sit in for 10+ hours. Sitting on hard material, like plastic, sounds unpleasant. Pick one, like mesh, that can support your body comfortably.
